FREE Parent Resource Available

The U.S. Department of Education has a new publication with many specific and useful hints, as well as resources for parents.

Helping Your Child Through Early Adolescence is an excellent booklet that provides parents with information about all aspects of young adolescent growth and development. Some sections include information on communicating with your young adolescent, understanding their need for independence, and tips on being an effective parent.

Written for parents of children ages 10 through 14, it is available free in English, Spanish, Braille, large print, audiotape, or computer disk. Since it is in the public domain, it may be reprinted for educational purposes by anyone, citing the U.S. Department of Education. Order by phone at 877-433-7827 or online at http://www.ed.gov/pubs/edpubs.html.
