Dr. Watson, a scientist, has just
brought to Innovative Products Corporation a new way to obtain an element in
pure form for a much lower cost than the current methods being used. She claims
that your company can use this process to make a variety of different products
that can be sold to the public and in the process makes your company a lot of
money.
The C.E.O. of Innovative products
has assigned you to collect information on three elements that Dr. Watson has
presented to your company. The C.E.O.
would like to learn more about these elements and their potential commercial
use before proceeding with the possible purchase of this process.
Essential Question: Should the C.E.O. of Innovative Corporation purchase the process of these three elements? Explain in your presentation.
Task:
As an employee of the Innovative
Corporation you are to design a brochure to be presented to the C.E.O. of the
company about three different elements.
The brochure must be professional
looking and include the following information:
1.
What is the name of each element, its mass and atomic
numbers?
2.
Write a brief history (one or two short bulleted phrases)
for each element.
3. State some of the properties of each element when in its pure form.
4.
Identify the major sources of each element.
5.
Identify some of the compounds that are made from each
element.
