Scenario:

 

You are a World News Reporter for Riverview Times.  Your boss has asked your group of reporters to travel the world reporting on 4 different world governments.  In groups of 2 or 3 you will collect information on the following forms of governments:

 

Representative Democracy, Communism, Monarchy and Socialism

 

Your group will present the information you have collected on each form of government to the editors of Riverview Times (the other students in your class) at the upcoming reporter’s staff meeting.  In your presentation you must provide information that will answer the following essential question:

 

Essential Question:

 

Why might a country choose one form of government over another?

 

Guiding Questions:

 

1.                      Define each form of government. (Representative Democracy, Socialism, Monarchy and Communism)

 

2.                      What are 2 examples of countries made up of each form of government?

 

 

3.                      How did ___(form of government)__come to power in the country?

 

4.                      Compare/contrast 2 forms of government. Explain why you think one form of government might be  better than another form of government.

 

 

 

Procedure:

 

1.                You will use your notes from class and internet resources to create a 12 page PowerPoint. (See sample format).       Notes paper: R. Democracy  Socialism  Monarchy  Communism

 

2.                After you have completed collecting information from class discussion you can also add information to your notes from the internet resources listed below.

 

3.                Use the Venn diagram to compare two forms of government.  Answer your essential question. Venn Diagram   

                   

4.                Fill out a PowerPoint Storyboard Sample PowerPoint

 

5.                Mr. Lennox and Mrs. Timson must approve the storyboard.

 

6.                Decide how everyone in the group will have responsibility for creating the PP (decide on roles for each person).

 

7.                Present the PowerPoint to your audience.
