Parents and Guardians of 6^th Grade Students,

I am the Library Media Specialist at Tolt Middle School. I will be collaborating with the 6^th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies team of teachers in new and different ways at Tolt Middle School throughout the year. For example, we plan to implement one of Washington States’ Social Studies Classroom-Based Assessments (CBA’s) later in the year. You will learn more about this specific Social Studies research project during the year.

At this time, we are looking for 6^th grade parent volunteers interested in assisting us with various collaborative projects/lessons throughout the year, as well as with the CBA’s. In addition, I am looking for overall clerical assistance in the Library. Parent volunteers can assist in:

The LRC and/or Classroom with various 6^th grade collaborative projects

The LRC with General Library Organization and Management

Training will be provided to volunteers. No experience is necessary.

If you would like to volunteer, please return the bottom portion of this letter to your child’s LA/SS teacher. I am compiling a list of volunteers for 6^th grade collaborative projects, Social Studies CBA’s, and general LRC assistance. I will contact you about training by phone or email. Please be aware that your child’s LA/SS teachers may be asking you to volunteer for other classroom events as well. These volunteer opportunities are separate from my request to volunteer. They will notify you as those opportunities arise.
